Coal Creek is a tiny Front Range community hidden just west of Highway 93 in Golden. The “downtown” section of Coal Creek consists of a gas station/post office, coffeeshop, liquor store and a couple businesses.
What’s interesting about this census-designated-place is that it’s located within three Colorado counties: Jefferson, Gilpin and Boulder. To the south of town there’s an entrance to Golden Gate Canyon State Park. In 2010 there were 2,400 residents.
